I’m an award-winning psychiatrist based in London. I’m Professor of Psychiatric Neuroscience at University College London, where I lead the Translational Psychiatry Research Group, conducting research into the mechanisms underlying mental health problems. I also work as a consultant psychiatrist at the Traumatic Stress Clinic and University College London Hospitals. I teach students across medicine and the neurosciences, and I have published articles and papers in various leading international medical and scientific journals including the Lancet Psychiatry, World Psychiatry, the British Medical Journal and Nature 

After my medical training in Oxford, I worked in London and the Channel Islands, including as an air ambulance doctor. I began my psychiatry specialist training at Charing Cross Hospital and was later made a Medical Research Council Clinical Research Fellow at Hammersmith Hospital. 

During my research fellowship, I worked at the Maudsley Hospital and in the psychotherapy unit at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, before being awarded an Academic Clinical Fellowship and then Lectureship at University College London. 

I’ve worked in a range of specialist NHS services, including acute in-patient psychiatry, treatment-resistant psychosis, and a team for people experiencing severe mental illnesses, substance dependence and personality disorder. 

I’ve undertaken advanced training in enhanced Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) with the University of Oxford and I’m an Approved Clinician under section 12 of the Mental Health Act. 

Prof Michael Bloomfield  

I am a Principal Clinical Psychologist and Director of Psychology for Bloomfield Health, with more than 15 years’ experience working in the UK National Health Service and in private practice. In addition to my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology I have completed further post-graduate training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), behavioural couple therapy, and Dynamic Interpersonal Therapy (DIT). I am registered as a Clinical Psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), hold Chartered Clinical Psychologist status with the British Psychological Society (BPS), and hold full accreditation with the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP).

I have worked in a range of clinical settings with patients across the lifespan, from childhood through to old age. In my current clinical work I specialise in helping adults struggling with common mental health issues such as depression, anxiety disorders, body image problems, and low self-esteem, for example. I have a particular interest in LGBTQ+ mental health. In addition to my passion for helping patients achieve their goals in therapy, I enjoy providing clinical supervision for colleagues and helping them deliver the best care possible whilst developing their skills and potential. 

In my NHS role with the South London & Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust I am responsible for leading a large team of psychological therapists. I have written book chapters and journal articles in leading peer reviewed scientific journals. I regularly teach colleagues and students attending clinical training programmes to doctoral and post-doctoral level. I consider myself a sincere, encouraging and responsive psychologist and I take great pleasure in working collaboratively with people to help them achieve their goals and to thrive.

Dr David Hambrook

Prof Adams is an internationally renowned expert in the field of computational psychiatry. Prof Adams has been a Consultant Psychiatrist on the Specialist Register since 2017, and has worked as a doctor in the NHS since 2004. He has specialist clinical and research interests in psychosis and neuropsychiatry, and has a weekly clinic in the Camden Early Intervention in Psychosis NHS service where he is responsible for the diagnosis and treatment of young people with possible psychotic disorders. He also works in a clinic in the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, a tertiary referral centre for neuropsychiatric disorders (e.g. neurodevelopmental disorders, rare causes of psychosis, psychiatric disorders in the context of neurological problems, and functional symptoms). He has membership of both the Royal College of Psychiatrists and the Royal College of Physicians, meaning he has both psychiatric and also general medical expertise. He is also a Future Leaders clinical research fellow at the Institute of Cognitive Neuroscience in University College London. 

Prof Rick Adams

I'm a Consultant Physician in Infectious Diseases and Virology based at the Royal London Hospital.

I have over 16 years of experience working in the NHS and have worked in Nottingham and London as well as the Northern Territory, Australia. I work in clinical virology and have a special interest in viral hepatitis (especially hepatitis B and hepatitis delta), the application of pathogen genomics to inform epidemiology and infection control as well as virus infections in the immunocompromised host. I am a member of the Royal College of Physicians. 

I regularly teach students, junior doctors and scientists in clinical virology and I have published articles in international medical journals including the British Medical Journal and Clinical Infectious Diseases. 

Dr Anna Riddell


I studied medical sciences (neuroscience) and clinical medicine at the University of Oxford. I have a PhD in Neuroscience and a post-graduate diploma in medical education from King’s College London. I a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists. My PhD was in neuroimaging to investigate the neurobiology of psychosis, where I have a long standing clinical and research interest. I’ve received awards from the Rosetrees Trust, the Royal College of Psychiatrists, the Royal Society of Medicine, the British Association of Psychopharmacology, the European Council of Neuropsychopharmacology, and the Schizophrenia International Research Society. I’m also a National Institute for Health research Clinical Lecturer at King’s College London where I teach and conduct research.  I completed my specialist training in General Adult Psychiatry at the Maudsley Hospital where I developed a specialist out-patient service for patients with treatment resistant schizophrenia. In addition to psychosis and severe mental illness, I am interested in mood disorders, women’s mental health including perinatal psychiatry,  neuropsychiatry and working with families.

Dr Katherine Beck

I am a Clinical Psychologist, registered as a Practitioner Psychologist with the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC), and accredited with the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP).

I completed my bachelor’s degree in Psychology at the University of Cambridge and went on to complete a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at University College London. Over the past five years working as a psychologist in the UK National Health Service (NHS) I have worked with children and adults across a wide range of clinical settings. In my current NHS role, I work with adults within a sexual health, HIV and sexual difficulties service.

Clinically, I draw upon a variety of therapeutic models including cognitive-behavioural, compassion-focused, systemic, and psychosexual. My aim is to create a safe, non-judgmental space where my clients feel comfortable to explore personal and sensitive issues, helping to increase understanding and working collaboratively to alleviate these together.

Dr Fiona Brand

I am passionate about making tangible real-world improvements to the lives of individuals with mental health difficulties via the design of novel digital psychological tools. I initially studied journalism before completing a master’s degree in psychology. I have previously worked as a researcher in large psychiatric genetic phenotyping studies at Cardiff University. I also have practical experience of supporting individuals with a range of complex mental health needs. I am currently completing a PhD at University College London exploring how neurodiverse children’s physical environment influences their socio-emotional development. 

 

I bring a wide range of relevant expertise to the research and development of Uvia including; experimental research project management, teaching, grant proposal formulation, public engagement, epidemiological statistics, science communication, risk management, and large-scale evidence synthesis. I also have a keen interest in cognitive neuroscience and incorporating artificial intelligence and machine learning into psychological therapeutics. 

Dr Alister Baird

James is a senior cognitive neuroscientist with research interests in how changes in the brain can underpin mental health issues and how this understanding this can be used to lead to better interventions for people experiencing mental health difficulties. James utilises his experience in neuroscience and mental health to help develop science-led content app for our flagship app Uvia. James is also a lecturer in Mental Health Sciences at University College London. 

Dr James Bisby

I am an accredited Cognitive behavioural therapist and registered Counsellor. Over the past twelve years I have worked internationally in a variety of services providing teenagers, university students, adults and older adults with mental health support. I have a master’s degree in counselling and a post-graduate diploma in cognitive-behavioural therapy from the University of Oxford. I am a member of both British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapy and the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy. 

I offer an empathetic, warm and collaborative approach to help clients understand their difficulties and develop strategies to overcome them, ultimately leading to an enhanced sense of wellbeing. I have a particular interest and proficiency in complex presentations using schema-focused CBT which explores people’s “inner world” constructs and the impact this has on people in the here and now. With this understanding, CBT aims to change long-standing unhelpful patterns of coping and build a more helpful approach to living.

Lorraine Orders

I have a background in sociology and a masters degree in social work. I am an Advanced Practitioner in Social Work and qualified Best Interests Assessor. I practice using the relationship-based model in Social Work to support people by using a strengths-based approach. Integral to my practice is advocating for the human rights of people in society. I have over 17 years’ experience in the Social Care sector and have worked in a variety of settings including mental health, young people in transition to adulthood, learning disabilities and autism, hospital settings and acquired brain injury. I have experience of leading statutory safeguarding enquiries and complex case management including at the Court of Protection.  

Katie Laws

Fernando has a background in business administration, having specialised in marketing and advertising.  He has nearly twenty years of experience in management built up in the UK and Latin America across a range of sectors. Fernando has a wealth of healthcare management experience within both the private and NHS services. Fernando’s key strengths include attention to detail,  consistently delivering excellent customer service and exceptional discretion when working with high profile clients. 

Fernando Bristot

Stephen has built up a wealth of experience in business operations during years working in the shipping and logistics industry. Initially Stephen worked at HE Moss Shipbrokers Limited, part of the Cunard Group, and then Anglo Maritime Shipbrokers Limited where he studied Law, Commerce and Accounts at night school at the City Of London University. He since founded and directed several boutique chartering brokerages including Intank Chartering Limited and Portland Maritime Limited. He has worked as a marine consultant and director of property management companies.

Stephen Jones

I have worked in the private healthcare industry for two years and I have a degree in psychology. I have always had a keen interest in mental health since studying psychology at A-Level. As a medical secretary, I enjoy being the first point of contact for patients and have a desire to offer care and compassion to give patients life-changing support. In my spare time I enjoy going to the gym and going out for dinner with my friends.
