Clinical psychology is a specialised, applied field within psychology that focuses on the assessment and treatment of mental health difficulties, emotional problems, and physical health conditions. Clinical psychology integrates scientific principles with clinical practice to understand, prevent, and alleviate psychological distress. It encompasses a wide range of mental health issues, from mild to severe, and addresses the needs of individuals across all ages and backgrounds. Clinical Psychologists provide comprehensive care, including therapy, assessment, and consultation services. In the UK, all clinical psychologists are regulated by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
Clinical Psychologists are experts in mental health. They have undergone extensive training (a professional doctorate in clinical psychology plus further post-graduate training) in understanding and assessing a range of psychological difficulties. They are skilled in determining the most appropriate form of help and are trained in providing more than one type of therapy.
Please let us know if you would like to book an initial consultation with one of our clinical psychologists. In these appointments we explore what is not working for you and what you would like to change. We ask questions that help us to understand the potential causes of your issues, what factors are keeping them going, and what strengths and supports you draw upon.
We recognise that everyone’s experiences are individual, and believe that coming up with a clear, accurate and personalised view of your difficulties is an important first step in your treatment. Our psychologists think from multiple psychological perspectives to develop a comprehensive understanding of you and your mental health, before considering what might be helpful in terms of further treatment.
We would be keen to discuss what a suitable course of psychological treatment might look like for you, providing a clear rationale for our recommendations, answering your questions and setting expectations of what therapy might involve.
At Bloomfield Health our leading clinical psychologists draw upon cognitive, behavioural, systemic and psychodynamic approaches to provide a range of evidence-based therapies. Examples of our current therapies include:
For those who decide to have a course of therapy with Bloomfield Health, we offer weekly or bi-weekly sessions, either face to face in our Harley Street consulting rooms, or online via video sessions. These sessions provide a therapeutic and containing space for you to explore your issues, to learn tools and techniques, and to be listened to without judgement.
