Bloomfield Health is seeking a talented, psychologically-minded Consultant Psychiatrist to join our innovative and growing team. This is a part-time hybrid position initially set at 1 clinical session per week plus SPA time, with the potential to increase as the business expands.

Salary and benefits 

Basic salary from £116,000 pro rata depending on experience plus company benefits package plus bonus scheme, plus private dental and medical scheme, plus pension scheme and generous annual leave allowance.

About the Role 

 This is a part-time hybrid role for a Consultant General Adult Psychiatrist. The role will initially be for 1 clinical session per week plus supporting professional activities (SPA) time with a view to increasing sessions as the business grows. The role will involve out-patient care and clinical case management, including assessing and treating adults with mental health problems. You will have excellent people skills and work effectively with multidisciplinary colleagues. The role will include remote work and a regular physical presence in central London. You will also contribute to service development and have opportunities to contribute to the company’s medicolegal practice. The role would suit a psychologically minded psychiatrist who would like to develop their career in the independent sector, with full administrative support and outstanding multidisciplinary clinical colleagues. 

 

Key Responsibilities 

 This role will evolve over time, in response to technological advances and the strategic direction of Bloomfield Health. Your key responsibilities will therefore vary from time to time, and will include: 

  •        Actively contribute to Bloomfield Health’s growth, innovation, and competitiveness.
  •        Staying up-to-date with developments in the mental health and digital mental health arenas, and apply these developments for the benefits of Bloomfield Health, its patients and clients.
  •        Evaluating, diagnosing, and treating patients with mental, emotional, and behavioural disorders.
  •        Conducting thorough psychiatric evaluations, developing biopsychosocial formulations and treatment plans, prescribing medication, and evaluating the results of your interventions.
  •        Participating in clinical governance, audit and quality improvement.
  •        Working closely with multidisciplinary clinical colleagues.
  •        Working with other consultant doctor colleagues to provide cross-cover arrangements.
  •        Contributing to the creation, maintenance, audit and improvement of systems to meet the needs of Bloomfield Health.
  •        Making recommendations for future developments.
  •        Communicating effectively and translating the needs of different teams into systems developments.
  •        Continually updating knowledge and skills by attending in-house and external courses, reading relevant literature and accessing new applications.

 

 Essential skills and qualifications 

  • Full registration with the General Medical Council with a license to practice. 
  • Membership of the Royal College of Psychiatrists. 
  • Certificate of Completion of Training or equivalent from the General Medical Council. 
  • Excellent clinical knowledge, skills, and judgment. 
  • Strong communication and team-working skills. 
  • Ability to review, understand, and interpret complex clinical information. 
  • Interest in developing evidence-based services and commitment to quality improvement. 
  • At least one year of experience working as a consultant psychiatrist in the National Health Service. 
  • Responsible Clinician approval under section 12 of the Mental Health Act.  

 

Desirable skills and qualifications 

  • Additional post-graduate qualifications e.g. MSc and/or PhD. 
  • Certificate in Psychopharmacology from the British Association for Psychopharmacology. 
  • Additional training and experience in any evidence-based modality of psychological therapy. 
  • Personal experience of psychotherapy. 
  • Relevant special interest experience including, for example, eating disorders, neurodiversity (ADHD and ASD), women’s mental health and/or substance use. 
  • An interest in digital mental health. 
  • Leadership skills
