ADHD

What is ADHD?

ADHD (Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder) is a neurodevelopmental condition that affects attention, impulsivity, emotional regulation, and executive functioning. It’s not a behaviour problem or a lack of effort — it’s a different way the brain processes information and responds to the world.

Who is ADHD support for?

ADHD support is for anyone who has, or suspects they have, ADHD — including those missed in childhood or previously misdiagnosed. You may benefit if you:

  • Struggle to focus, organise, or start/finish tasks

  • Experience restlessness, impulsivity, or racing thoughts

  • Are easily distracted or hyperfocused for long periods

  • Feel overwhelmed by everyday demands

  • Mask your difficulties or feel exhausted by “coping”

  • Have overlapping experiences with anxiety, depression, or autism

  • Were diagnosed earlier and need ongoing treatment

  • Are neurodivergent and want affirming, personalised care

We support adults, adolescents, and parent-carers seeking clarity, confidence, and the tools to navigate life with ADHD.

What does ADHD care involve?

  • Comprehensive ADHD assessments (if needed)

  • One-to-one psychiatry and therapy sessions

  • Diagnosis or diagnostic clarification using validated tools

  • Psychoeducation about ADHD and how it shows up across life stages

  • ADHD medication options and careful dose titration

  • Monitoring for benefits, side effects, and lifestyle fit

  • Skills-based therapy (e.g. CBT for ADHD, emotion regulation)

  • Executive function coaching (time, task, and energy management)

  • Help with burnout, masking, or identity questions

  • Support with parenting, relationships, or work adjustments

  • Neurodiversity-affirming language, goals, and strategies

  • Collaborative care plans with you at the centre

  • Online or in-person sessions

  • Reports for employers, education, or adjustments if needed

Our approach

Our approach to ADHD

At Bloomfield Health, we understand that ADHD is often under-recognised, especially in women, non-binary people, and people of colour. Our clinicians offer clear, respectful, and affirming care — not pathologising, not rushed. Whether you’re newly exploring ADHD or returning for support, we work with you to reduce shame, build self-understanding, and find tools that actually work. Our care is inclusive, trauma-informed, and grounded in lived experience as well as evidence.

If you’ve long struggled with attention, motivation, or emotion regulation — and it impacts daily life — an assessment may help.

Not always. We offer pre-diagnostic support, therapy, and coaching for people exploring ADHD traits.

Stimulants (like methylphenidate) and non-stimulants (like atomoxetine) may be used — tailored to your needs.
