Our mental health referral service supports fellow clinicians seeking prompt access to specialist assessment and treatment for adults with a wide range of mental health needs. Referrals can be made to a consultant psychiatrist, clinical psychologist, psychological therapist, or occupational therapist, depending on the clinical question and patient’s needs. This service is suitable for GPs, physicians, therapists, insurers, occupational health teams, and other professionals who would value expert input. We provide comprehensive assessment, diagnostic clarification where needed, and tailored recommendations for treatment planning, risk management, and onward care.
We aim to make referral straightforward, responsive, and clinically useful. We begin by understanding the reason for referral, the urgency, and the type of specialist input required. We then match the patient to the most appropriate clinician within our multidisciplinary team for assessment and/or treatment. Our assessments are thorough, person-centred, and tailored to the referrer’s questions, with clear communication and practical recommendations. Where helpful, we can advise on next steps, shared care, onward referral, or integrated multidisciplinary input.

We accept referrals from GPs, psychiatrists, psychologists, psychotherapists, physicians in other specialties, occupational health professionals, insurers, case managers, and other registered clinicians or organisations seeking specialist mental health input.
This service is for adults with a broad range of mental health difficulties, including depression, anxiety, trauma-related presentations, neurodevelopmental questions, complex diagnostic uncertainty, functional impairment, and situations where specialist assessment or treatment planning is needed.
That depends on the referral question and clinical need. Patients may be referred to a consultant psychiatrist, clinical psychologist, psychological therapist, or occupational therapist. We aim to match each referral to the most appropriate professional.
Yes. Some referrals are specifically for a specialist assessment, diagnostic opinion, formulation, or treatment recommendations without ongoing treatment. We can also see patients for assessment followed by treatment where appropriate.
Yes. Referrals may be for treatment with a psychiatrist, psychologist, therapist, or occupational therapist, depending on the patient’s needs and the nature of the difficulties identified.
It is helpful to include the presenting concerns, relevant history, current risks, current medication, any previous mental health input, and the specific question you would like us to address. Relevant reports or clinic letters can also be useful.
Yes. With appropriate consent and in line with confidentiality obligations, we provide clear written and/or verbal feedback to help referrers understand the assessment outcome, recommendations, and proposed next steps.
