Individual therapy

What is Individual Therapy?

Individual therapy is a one-to-one talking treatment that helps you explore emotional difficulties, build coping skills, and move toward greater wellbeing. It offers a safe, confidential space to understand yourself, process experiences, and make meaningful changes — at your pace.

Who is Individual Therapy for?

Individual therapy is for anyone who wants to work through personal challenges in a supportive, non-judgemental environment. It’s suitable for:

  • Anxiety, panic, or constant worry

  • Low mood, depression, or emotional numbness

  • Grief, trauma, or difficult life transitions

  • Identity exploration (e.g. gender, sexuality, culture)

  • Low self-esteem or people-pleasing

  • Stress, burnout, or perfectionism

  • Relationship issues or painful attachment patterns

  • Neurodivergent experiences (e.g. autism, ADHD, masking, sensory overwhelm)

  • Emotional regulation difficulties or chronic shame

It’s also for people who don’t have a specific “diagnosis,” but want support in understanding themselves, managing life, or breaking unhelpful patterns. Therapy is adapted to your goals, background, and communication style.

What does Individual Therapy involve?

  • Weekly or fortnightly 1:1 sessions (usually 50 minutes)

  • Short-term or long-term depending on your needs

  • Time to explore thoughts, feelings, behaviours, and history

  • Goal-setting — from symptom relief to deeper emotional insight

  • Use of therapeutic approaches such as CBT, psychodynamic, ACT, schema, or integrative therapy

  • Trauma-informed, identity-sensitive work

  • Focus on building emotional safety and trust

  • Can include mindfulness, journaling, or other practices

  • Confidential and tailored to your pace

  • Offered online or in-person

  • Regular reviews to reflect on progress

  • Can be combined with psychiatric care or medication

  • Suitable for adults of all identities and neurotypes

Our approach

Our approach to Individual Therapy

At Bloomfield Health, we believe therapy should feel safe, respectful, and human. Our therapists bring expertise, empathy, and flexibility to support you through whatever you’re facing. Whether you’re navigating a mental health condition, healing from trauma, or simply trying to make sense of your experiences, we offer therapy that meets you where you are. Our work is neurodiversity-affirming, LGBTQ+ inclusive, trauma-aware, and tailored to your values and goals.

If you're feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or curious about yourself, therapy can help. You don’t need a diagnosis to benefit.

We offer a range of approaches and help you find what fits — from structured CBT to depth work or integrative therapy.

That’s up to you. Some people come for a few months, others longer. We’ll review your goals and adjust as needed.

Yes — everything you share is confidential, except where there are serious safety concerns.

Absolutely. We adapt our approach to your needs and communication style, without pathologising.

Yes — many people find therapy and medication work well together. We collaborate with psychiatry if needed.

We’ll talk about what’s bringing you to therapy, your goals, and how we might work together. No pressure to share everything right away.

Please contact us to book an initial session. We’ll help match you with the right therapist and plan your next steps.
